Diversity, learning styles and class dynamics

Class dynamics (dealing with diversity)

"Our professionalism is played with difficult students". I have heard this sentece this weekend in a teacher training and it shocked me.

How can we deal with diversity?

First of all, diversity can be seen from three dimensions:
1st dimension: Our human being (as teachers)
             - Learning: we should value, consider the learning and love learning
             - Love: we should be aware of diversity
             - Educating the look: we should be able of identifying these necessities

Have a glance to these quotes by Peter Senge:

“People don't resist change. They resist being changed.”
Peter Senge

“Collaboration is vital to sustain what we call profound or really deep change, because without it, organizations are just overwhelmed by the forces of the status quo. ”
Peter Senge

“Through learning we re-create ourselves. Through learning we become able to do something we never were able to do. Through learning we reperceive the world and our relationship to it. Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be part of the generative process of life”
Peter M. Senge

It is pretty clear the importance of learning and the word "growing" instead of "change". We can also talk about individual intelligence that grows up in society.

2nd dimension: Doing or acting (as teachers)
            - Change the curriculum
            - Change the methodology
            - Change the evaluation

3rd dimension: The student (as teachers)
We should focus in "how our students learn" instead of "how we can teach".

We can use David Kolb's model to know our students' style of learning.

This is a video showing Kolb's original model:

This video is a practical one I think you are going to have fun watching it.
